Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update from ProKids/Central Indiana First Steps

The continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted how we all conduct our daily lives.  ProKids/Central Indiana First Steps remains committed to serving children with special needs and their families.  Due to the spread of COVID-19 and our desire to put the health and safety of children, families, and staff members first, we are adjusting operations to incorporate recommendations from the CDC and local public health authorities.

ProKids/Central Indiana First Steps is taking the following actions to continue providing help and support to the families we serve:

  • We are currently taking referrals online, by phone, or by fax.

  • Per Governor Holcomb’s order, the ProKids/Central Indiana First Steps office will be closed on Tuesday, 3/24/20, and will re-open on April 7, 2020.  Administrative staff will work remotely.  Remote office hours are from 8 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

  • Evaluations are being completed virtually by video and phone conferencing.

  • Service Coordination meetings are being completed by phone.

Curious about virtual therapy services?

During the Coronavirus pandemic, Central Indiana First Steps has implemented the practice of remote therapy (virtual therapy, tele-therapy, tele-intervention) for both evaluations and ongoing therapy services for children enrolled in First Steps.  Below is some information about virtual therapies.  Also, feel free to discuss questions or concerns with your Service Coordinator and therapists.
